The Dance Loft is a high energy, fun, professional, fast paced, friendly, and inviting studio that instructs dancers ages 2-18. Offering classes in all styles of dance, from the beginner, recreational level, to the serious, advanced level, The Dance Loft has a home for everyone. Throughout each year, we participate in a series of local events such as parades and festivals as well as our Performance Group that performs halftime at arenas such as the Bryce Jordan Center, the Petersen Events Center, Omni Bedford Springs Resort, etc. The Dance Loft has collaborated with local businesses and professional sports teams and created events such as Dance Day at PNC Park with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Dance Day at DelGrosso's with DelGrosso's Amusement Park. At The Dance Loft, we help our dancers build confidence, lifelong friendships, physical and mental strength, and create and achieve personal goals.
Owner and Choreographer - Mackenzie Counterman
Mackenzie opened The Dance Loft in 2019 at 22 years of age with a plan to develop a high-quality training facility for young hopeful dancers. Since then, her students have performed halftime shows at the Bryce Jordan Center, Petersen Events Center, IUP, Saint Francis University, Grand Illumination at Omni Bedford Springs Resort, and the Altoona Curve to name a few. She is incredibly excited for the upcoming collaboration with the Pittsburgh Pirates where they will present Dance Day at PNC Park. She is also excited to be hosting the 2nd year of Dance Day at DelGrosso's. Her studio is involved in numerous organizations throughout the community such as the Alzheimer's Association, Autism Association, and Veterans Association and she is looking forward to collaborating with many local businesses, organizations, and facilities for years to come. In addition to her own studio, she is the coach of the Bishop Guilfoyle/Holy Trinity Dance Team. She attended both Point Park University in Pittsburgh and University of the Arts in Philadelphia in their dance programs. Mackenzie has been dancing for 15 years, training in all styles of dance and contortion, as well as a member of the AAHS Gymnastics Team from 2012-2015. During her senior year she also taught the Beginner and Advanced Dance classes at AAHS. She has taken master classes and trained with some of today’s top choreographers. Mackenzie has won numerous scholarships to continue her dance education to include Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Peridance in NYC, The Dance Awards and Dancer Palooza in LA, JUNK Dance Company in Philadelphia, Point Park Summer Intensive in Pittsburgh, and Motion Dance Convention at Grier School. Last year, Mackenzie was named one of the Pennsylvania Business Center - Women in Business 50 to follow and was honored and excited to be chosen as a recipient of the 20 under 40 award from the Altoona Mirror in 2023. She has worked with and choreographed for many local studios but nothing can quite compare to this journey of instructing, impacting, and guiding her own students through life and the love they share with dance.
